With a little more than a week until the highly-anticipated ‘Avengers: Endgame’ arrives there is more than finding out how the superheroes plan on defeating Thanos to get excited over. The film’s co-director Joe Russo has confirmed that the late Stan Lee will make his final appearance in a moment that is sure to be bittersweet for fans.

“It’s his last one committed to film,” Russo told Mashable. “I have to say, I think it’s astonishing that this would be his last cameo. It’s just kind of mind-boggling that he made it to the end of this run. I can’t believe it.” Sadly, Lee won’t be alive to see what the future of Marvel may hold after passing away last November with fans and many celebs mourning the tragic loss of the comic book legend.

Playing a variety of different characters, Lee’s cameos became a fan-favorite since he first appeared in 2008’s ‘Iron Man’ when the Marvel Cinematic Universe first began. According to Anthony Russo, the Lee’s presence on set also excited the film’s all-star cast.

“We have all these movie stars on that set, and when Stan came to set, everybody would be like kids again. t was always a lot of fun shooting these cameos because he was very charming,” Russo said. Adding, “and he would maybe get the crew going, and everybody would be laughing and having a good time.”
