This Star Makes Millions Off Social Media

Forbes magazine got flak for naming Kylie Jenner the world’s youngest self-made billionaire. Critics pointed out that Jenner came from a rich and influential family and was hardly “self-made.”

But now, it looks like that criticism was misplaced. Kylie, in fact, makes a fortune as a social media influencer and through her massively successful makeup and skincare brand. HopperHQ.com, a site that ranks social media influencers, suggests that Jenner earns around $1 million for every picture she posts on Instagram. That’s more than many Americans will make over the course of their lifetimes.

“The 21-year-old reality star and Kylie Cosmetics founder has taken the top spot on HopperHQ.com’s Instagram Rich List at least two years in a row,” Market Watch reports. “And that’s more money than many people without at least a bachelor’s degree make in a lifetime, based on census data that finds someone with an associate degree earned $1.1 million on average, while high school graduates earned $910,000. (Those with a bachelor’s or more made $1.8 million and up over the course of their lives.)”

Jenner is not the only celebrity bringing in huge income on social media. Singer Ariana Grande earns around $900,000 per Instagram post. Grande has more followers than Jenner, with 227 million followers compared to Jenner’s 221 million. International soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo has 244 million followers, beating both Grande and Jenner. However, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson currently earns the highest income from Instagram, garnering about $1,015,000 per post.
