Missguided Will Be Paying KKW $2.7 Million

Kim Kardashian West is studying to get her law license, and she put her legal skills to good use in her lawsuit against the clothing brand Missguided. Kardashian-West says the British clothing brand copied her style without permission and used her name and image in its marketing.

Missguided failed to respond to Kim K’s lawsuit, and a California judge ordered the company, based in Manchester, England, to pay Kardashian West $2.7 million.

Kim vented her frustration on Instagram in February, when she posted a photo of herself in a gold dress with the caption, “Wait until I wear this in real life before you knock it off.” The lawsuit says Missguided is “notorious” for copying celebrity looks and using star’s names and likeness without permission.

The judge also ordered Missguided to pay almost $60,000 in legal fees and avoid using Kim’s name or image in any of its future marketing.

“Missguided does not merely replicate the looks of these celebrities as seen on red carpets, in paparazzi photos, and in social media posts,” the lawsuit stated. “Missguided systematically uses the names and images of Kardashian and other celebrities to advertise and spark interest in its website and clothing.”

Missguided is based in the UK, but the judgment was imposed on its US branch.
