Crowdfunding to the Rescue?
“We have not come close to covering our costs,”, this was the quote from Chris Stokes, the Jamaican Bobsled federation manager that made it obvious how dire the financial hardships were for the talented team.
The team had been borrowing training equipment, struggling to make ends meet and didn’t even have the proper attire for training.
Now enter crowdingfunding pages set up by the Sochi Olympic hopefuls, as of Tuesday the team managed to meet and surpass their $80,000 goal via donations on their two pages.
To add to the teams good fortune the Jamaican Olympic Association announced that it would cover the teams’s travel costs.
