The Mind-Reading Machine
Researchers at Kyoto University in Japan have created the first mind-reading machine. Let me guess what you’re thinking – that is flipping crazy, right? Technology that can read human minds is no longer a long-held theme of science fiction literature. It is very real and very worth understanding and evaluating.
The device they created at Kyoto University can transform human thoughts into images. The information that it gathers from the bloodstream and from brainwaves allows it to form a visual projection of what a person is thinking.
Reports are that the researchers have been extremely successful in forming those pictorial representations of human thoughts. They are continuing to create mind-reading machines that can shape artwork from a person’s imagination. They are also exploring ways for technology to allow us to communicate only through our thoughts.
The university’s research team leader, Yukiyasu Kamitani, concludes, “Bringing AI research and brain science closer together could open the door to new brain-machine interfaces, perhaps even bringing us closer to understanding consciousness itself.”
As we already know, the technology can only get more advanced from here.
