Churchill Arms Celebrate Christmas

A British pub has immersed itself in the festive season and broken its own record after embellishing itself with more than 21,000 lights and nearly 100 Christmas trees.

The Churchill Arms in Notting Hill, Kensington, west London, has been decorated with more than 21,500 lights and 95 trees to become the talk of the town.

Proud manager James Keogh spent almost three weeks creating the final spectacle and said this year’s display featured more trees and lights than ever before.

Mr Keogh told local news: “It just grew and grew. We love it so much, it was hard to stop.”

The London pub, built in 1750, is known around the world for its beautifully crafted floral displays and hanging baskets in the summer months, which sees 42 hanging baskets, 48 window boxes and 100 tubs outside its walls.

Its much-loved decorations have even earned it an award at The Chelsea Flower Show.

In their Instagram post, they also claimed that this year’s display will be a record-breaker. It’s hard to imagine the decorations being bigger and better than previous efforts. In the past, their display has included a whopping 18,000 Christmas trees.

The pub staff wrote: “It’s official! Christmas has arrived here with all our Christmas trees and Christmas lights lit up, join us for the most amazing festive scene, looking forward to seeing you all soon.”

During the 1800’s, the famous alehouse, that displays an array of Churchill memorabilia inside its walls, was regularly visited by Winston Churchill’s grandparents.

It was this that inspired its name after the Second World War.

The beautifully decorated pub will keep its lights until January.
