What Does T-Swift Have In Common With Distracted Drivers?
Texting and driving has become an increasingly deadly habit. According to the US department of transportation, driving and text messaging resulted in 3,477 deaths and 391,000 injuries last year.
That means that 14% of fatal distracted driving crashes involve a cell phone. Therefore, The Iowa Department of Transportation is shaking up its “reputation” with a pretty aggressive, Taylor Swift-inspired distracted driving message.
The Iowa department of transportation posted a sign on line that reads “247 traffic deaths this year. Old Taylor can’t come to the phone… She’s driving.” The accompanying tweet adds, “If you don’t get the message today – ask the nearest millennial.” While the sign’s message is perfectly clear, the source material of Taylor’s new song is dark and deep.
It’s a bold campaign from the Iowa DOT, although considering after Taylor’s last album, she tried to claim ownership of many of the phrases in her songs.
The Iowa Department of transportation should watch out for Taylor coming after them for trademark infringement. Previously, they used a KISS inspired lyric as well.
