Mama June opens up about life after drug arrest

“Mama June” Shannon, the mother of reality star Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Shannon, says every day has been an uphill battle since she was arrested for drug possession last spring. Shannon and her boyfriend were arrested for crack cocaine possession and pleaded not guilty in October.

Since Shannon’s brush with the law, Alana has been living with her 20-year-old aunt, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon.

“Well decided to get back at it I’m not saying I’m perfect as everyday is a struggle n some days I just want to disappear,” Shannon wrote in an Instagram post this week. She said her four daughters, including Alana, are able to see each other. But for now, June isn’t seeing her kids.

Lauryn responded with an encouraging post to her sister: “Things haven’t been the easiest lately but I promise we will get through it…I love being there for you when you need me most. And I enjoy being your sister mom. I hope today is all you wish for and more.”

June Shannon and her family gained fame after Alana, nicknamed “Honey Boo Boo,” appeared on the reality show Toddlers and Tiaras. The down-home Alabama family’s amusing antics eventually landed them their own show, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
