Fyre Festival Influencer Models May Face Lawsuit

Among the founders and team behind the hoax music festival, Fyre Festival, everyone is receiving a court summons, including high-profile influencer models. Lawyers are calling out the modeling agencies that provided the talent for the infamous Fyre Festival promo video.

IMG model, representatives for Hailey Baldwin and Bella Hadid, and DNA Model Management, representative of Emily Ratajkowski, and Kendall Jenner Inc must comply with subpoenas for this case. These modeling agencies are now affiliated with the catastrophe that was the Fyre Festival.

The court indicated that DNA Model Management and Kendall Jenner Inc received $300,000 each for their services. IMG also received $1.2 million for their models to promote Fyre Festival.

The models were hired by Billy McFarland, the man behind Fyre Festival, to make a video that was sure to entice thousands of people to a private island for a luxury festival experience. Though the models didn’t know how hard this venture would fail, they’re now facing the backlash of supporting a total scam.

McFarland promised a dream in the form of a music festival, that many bought, but were left devastated when they arrived at the venue. Not only was the venue is disarray but due to lack of payment for the music artists, all of the entertainment canceled a day before the event saying that they have yet to be paid and will not be making an appearance.

This did not stop the many people who wanted to seek out adventure in the Carribean, resulting in hundreds of people showing up to the event to find their dream had turned into a nightmare. Guests had no sleeping arrangements or food, the worst part is that the festival stated concert-goers would have to pre-load a digital wallet to spend money at the festival and left many of these guests without cash.

The models weren’t the only ones defrauded, with many other pay vendors and creditors of the concert who have yet to be paid. The founder and face behind Fyre Festival, Billy McFarland, was sentenced to six years in federal prison and Fyre Festival LLC filed for bankruptcy in 2017.
