Tiny Homes Transforming Lives Of Veterans
He may be used to breaking records on the football field but now Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes can add something new to his resume.
One of the hottest young stars in the NFL, Mahomes and 65 volunteers spent his rest day on tiny homes built for veterans by the Veterans Community Project. It speaks volumes about Mahomes’ character and desire to participate within the community.
Speaking about this work, Mahomes said: “Anytime I can have the opportunity when I can come out here and give back to them, it is something that I try to do and try to be a part of.” While Mahomes is here, he doesn’t get any star treatment, nor does he expect it. He works closely with the other volunteers to ensure that these new homes are shiny and clean for the veterans.
The NFL star continued: “I know they are one of the first in the entire country and hopefully we can keep spreading the good word and keep helping people out.” Mahomes did share a little hidden talent, maybe he is a little more domesticated than people thinks he is. He spoke about his talents away from the sport, he said: “I think I will stick to painting today, I am not the handiest of men, but I am pretty sure I can paint pretty well.”
Community America donated five homes to the Veterans Community Project at 89th and Troost in Kansas City.
