The production for the solo film for the Justice League’s speedster, The Flash, was originally planned to wrap by 2019. Unfortunately, according to a recent announcement, the production of the film has been pushed back to 2019, meaning it likely won’t hit theaters until at least 2021.

The main reason for this heavy push-back is the schedule of the film’s star, Ezra Miller. Miller’s schedule is currently booked solid due to the recently announced sequel to ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off ‘Fantastic Beasts,’ as well as a rumored third film set to begin production this coming July. Warner Bros. has been having difficulty getting the pieces to line up for the Flash film, and have not yet secured even a general studio greenlight. Directors were being considered as early as 2015, and the project has already shuffled through at least three.

Studio sources have noted a general disappointment at Warner Bros. with the 2021 push-back, but that there isn’t a lot they can do about it at this time.
