Still Loving ‘Sex And The City’

Kim Cattrall, who played racy Samantha on “Sex and the City,” says fans were drawn to the show’s strong female characters.

“What I think people love about shows like ‘Sex in the City’ and ‘Filthy Rich’ is strong characters,” Cattrall said. “You know, real strong characters. And this is a new chapter, this is another strong character. So I’m really enjoying that.”

Cattrall will be playing the role of Margaret Monreaux in “Filthy Rich,” a new series on the Fox Network. Cattrall said she liked that her character is an independent woman who came from “generations of women.”

“She came from a generation of women who brought themselves up. She didn’t come from much, but she had self-belief,” Cattrall told “Entertainment Tonight.” “She had faith. She had family. And that’s what brought her to where she is today. She’s gonna rule the world.”

Cattrall said she picks roles based on the character’s personality. She also weighs how much fun the role will be.

“I think it plays in picking whatever the job is especially at this time in my life, it’s really ‘I’m going to have lots of fun!'” Cattrall told Entertainment Tonight.

“Sex and the City,” Cattrall’s most famous project, was a smash hit from the time it debuted in 1997 to its finale in 2004. Cattrall played Samantha in two “Sex and the City” film adaptations but says she won’t do anymore.
