The NFL is investigating the allegations

Antonio Brown, who was signed by the New England Patriots after asking the Oakland Raiders to release him, stands accused of sexual assault. A woman named Britney Taylor filed a civil suit against Brown, saying he assaulted her three times in 2017 and 2018.

Taylor said Brown hired her as a trainer and then carried out an escalating series of assaults, which started with him exposing himself and culminating in rape in 2018. Taylor’s lawsuit says she told her mother and fellow church members at the time, and they encouraged her to go public with the allegations.

Darren Heitner, Brown’s attorney, says the accusations are false and Taylor is just seeking a big payout from the highly paid professional athlete.

“Mr. Brown denies each and every allegation in the lawsuit,” Heitner said. “He will pursue all legal remedies to not only clear his name but to also protect other professional athletes against false accusations.”

The Patriots did not comment on whether the allegations would prevent Brown from taking the field.

“We take these allegations very seriously,” the Patriots said in a statement. “Under no circumstance does this organization condone sexual violence or assault. The league has informed us that they will be investigating. We will have no further comment while that investigation takes place.”
