Honors For The Upcoming Latino Achievement Awards

Eva Longoria is among the celebrities that will be honored during next months Latino Achievement Awards.

The star of ‘Jane the Virgin’, Gina Rodriguez will also be celebrated at the upcoming awards. Wilmer Valderrama will be hosting the awards ceremony that celebrates the Latino achievements in American entertainment and media.

Activists Samantha Fuentes and Jamie Margolin will also be honored. Fuentes survived the Parkland school shooting and Margolin founded the Zero Hour movement to address climate change.

The Nov. 4 ALMA ceremony is airing live at 8 p.m. Eastern on sibling TV channels Fuse and FM. Performances by Ally Brooke and Amara La Negra will be featured.

In a statement Friday, host Valderrama said Latino achievements and contributions need to be highlighted more than ever at what he called a ‘critical’ time.

The ALMAs — American Latino Media Arts Awards — are back after a three-year hiatus in time for the 50th anniversary of Unidos US, previously known as National Council of La Raza.

Unidos US is the nation’s largest Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization. In 1995 it created the ALMAs as a way to promote fair, accurate and balanced portrayals of Latinos in the entertainment industry.

Fuse Media made a multi-year agreement to become the exclusive multi platform media home of the ALMAs.
