The World Finally Meets The New Addition To The Royal Family

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, introduced their two-day-old son to the world on Wednesday morning. The newborn boy slept through his first encounter with reporters–but the new parents looked elated.

“It’s magic,” Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, said. “I have the two best guys in the world, so I’m really happy. [He] has the greatest temperament in the world, he’s really calm.”

Prince Harry joked “I don’t know who he gets that from.” He also playfully pointed out that the baby has “already got a little bit of facial hair, as well.”

The new member of the royal family remains nameless for now, but the Duke and Duchess are expected to announce his name in the next few days. The child is seventh in line for the British throne and breaks tradition by being both half-American and partly African-American. Many see the Royal Baby as a symbol of the royal family’s move into a modern, more diverse world.

Meghan and Harry broke tradition by declining to appear for a photo op outside the hospital with their baby, which has been a Royal custom for four decades. They opted for a more private birth experience, and plan to introduce their son to the public on their own time.
