Live-Action “Aladdin” Coming Soon

The first full length trailer for Disney’s live-action remake of “Aladdin” has finally been released, meaning fans can get excited after what seemed like a long wait to see more of Will Smith as the Genie.

Previous teaser trailers left viewers disappointed as they only got to see a snippet of a very blue Genie. Now we’ve got a bit more to go on – more context to his character, wit and wish-granting skills.

Disney released the trailer on Twitter with the caption: “A whole new world. Watch the brand-new trailer for Disney’s #Aladdin, in theaters May 24.”

And fans were pleasantly surprised. One said: “Now THATS WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT !!!” Another added: “IM SO READY FOR THIS,” with a third commenting: “Yeah I was lil bit skeptical about Will Smith playing Genie, but now I am convinced.”

The film, which is scheduled to be released on May 24 this year, is directed by Guy Ritchie. Alongside Smith and Massoud, Naomi Scott will play the role of Princess Jasmine.

This film will arrive on the silver screen among a slew of remakes that are currently in the works over at Disney. Following on from 2017’s “Beauty and the Beast,” starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, a live-action version of everyone’s favorite childhood classic “The Lion King” will hit the big screen this July.

Of all of Disney’s many memorable characters, few have captured the imagination or stolen the show like Robin Williams’ original portrayal of the Genie back in 1992.

Speaking about the role, and the shadow of Williams – who died in 2014 – looming over him, Smith told Entertainment Tonight: “I was terrified doing the Genie after Robin Williams. But I found a lane that pays homage. It is my own thing, you know? So, I think people are going to love it.”

Speaking about the fun he had filming, he continued: “It’s one of the greatest film-making experiences that I have ever had. I have worked at most of the studios, and Disney just knows what they are doing. It was really a spectacular team of people that came together around a classic story. It’s so spectacular, it’s such a beautiful movie and I can’t wait for people to see it.”
