Beethoven Is Rolling Over In His Grave

This must be what they meant when they coined the phrase ‘it’s just a sign of the times.’ Who could have predicted that one day, all you would need to do to do to keep people from spending usless time outside of your convenience store, is play classical music. Gone are they days when classical music was used to calm people; now it’s just used to make people go away. A 7-Eleven convenience store in Modesto, California, says that playing classical music outside the store has in fact curbed their loitering problem.

According to a local news source called The Modesto Bee, one of the workers at the store said, “once the music started, the riffraff left.”

As silly as it sounds, this story is true. It goes to show that sometimes you have to be creative to solve a problem. It just so happens that whomever decided to play classical music outside of this 7-Eleven solved an on-going problem. Maybe one day, way off in the future, stores will have to play Justin Bieber to keep people from loitering.
