So Adorable

Joseph Tidd was born missing an arm. It’s a rare condition in the United States, affecting about 2,250 newborns each year. But Joseph felt a little less alone when he met a soccer star missing the same limb–Carson Pickett, who plays for the Orlando Pride.

Little Joseph and Pickett took a viral photo bumping arms, which they are both missing from the elbow down. Pickett said the once-in-a-lifetime photo wasn’t staged.

“The look on my face, it was authentic. It wasn’t made up, I didn’t plan it,” Pickett said. “It’s great having him in the stands, and his family…Seeing him gives him and me just as much joy as seeing my best friends. We’re so much alike and it really doesn’t matter what the age difference is and that’s really special to me, because he is my friend now.”

Joseph’s mom, Colleen Tidd, said the feeling is definitely mutual.

“I cried, I instantly cried… but honestly I don’t know why I worried, look at Carson, look at Joseph, they’re perfect,” Joseph’s mom said. “Every time, we’ll cheer on Carson and she always can hear us, and she came over in that instance and we were able to take that picture.”
