CBS Officially Declares The Beginning Of Summer

This summer, fans of the Big Brother reality TV show can expect more than just the unexpected. Last night, Julie Chen kicked off the first of a two-night season premiere for the hit reality show, explaining how “technology has taken over the Big Brother house.” For those unfamiliar, Big Brother is a game show of sorts, where regular people from all over the U.S. are trapped in a house for 99 days, picking each other off week by week until only two are left. Then, their fellow houseguests must vote for the winner, who receives a whopping $500,000, while the runner-up gets $50,000. It’s a staple addiction that adds to many family summers.

So what did we learn from the premiere? If you missed it, we got introduced to 16 new houseguests. This season seems to be filled with a lot more “jocks” and “pretty girls” than normal, leaving the rest of the cast feeling like outsiders, such as Scottie (“the virgin”) and Rockstar (“the alien”).
We learned that, as usual, the twists are coming quick and fast. 2 houseguests have already received game-changing punishments that greatly affect their social game, and the house has already been divided, as 8 of the players already have safety from the first live eviction.

The latest, and most trending development, is the ability for America to influence the game through what’s called the “BB App Store” and here’s how it works. Using messenger systems like Skype and Facebook, you can connect with the CBS Messenger Bot, who will ask you a series of 5 questions. Each question allows you to type the name of ONE houseguest, and whoever gets the most “votes” at the end of the week will be allowed to grab a special “power” from the “BB App Store,” while the least popular must get a punishment.

It’s sure to be a summer of twists, turns, and excitements as the two-night premiere continues tonight, Thursday June 28th, at 9/8c on CBS.
