Biden Is Catching Some Heat For This One

Former Vice President Joe Biden has always been gaffe-prone. However, he outdid himself while speaking to minority voters in Iowa this week, saying that “poor kids” are just as bright as “white kids.”

“We have this notion that somehow if you’re poor, you cannot do it. Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids,” Biden said. He then attempted to clarify his comments, saying, “wealthy kids, black kids, Asian kids. No, I really mean it, but think how we think about it.”

Biden has been the front-runner in the Democratic race for the presidential nomination since he entered the candidate pool in the spring. However, he’s hit his share of speed bumps along the way, such as arguing with California Senator Kamala Harris about his record on school busing in the first debate. Before the second debate, Biden jokingly told Harris, “go easy on me, kid.”

Despite criticism throughout the media, Biden didn’t address his gaffe. Instead, he posted pictures from his Iowa visit on Twitter, saying it went well.

“I had a great afternoon at the Iowa State Fair where we talked with folks about our bold vision for the country. I stopped for some ice cream, too,” Biden tweeted.
