‘Back To The Future’ Is Quite Popular

It feels like all our favorite childhood films are being revamped, remade and re-released. ‘The Jungle Book,’ ‘King Kong,’ ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and even the box office hit ‘A Star Is Born’ is a classic remake.

But what classic film franchises would make it to the cinema screens if the audiences got the choice?

The Hollywood Reporter conducted a poll and, of the 2,201 people surveyed, a jaw-dropping 71 percent said they wanted to see Doc Brown and Marty head back to the future in a plutonium-powered DeLorean – just not with Michael J Fox or Christopher Lloyd.

Disney and Pixar’s ‘Toy Story’ scored 69 percent, ‘Indiana Jones’ got 68 percent and ‘Jurassic Park’ got a score of 67 percent.

But there were some shockers on the list – ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘The Matrix’ scored pretty high with 55 percent and 54 percent respectively and Avatar didn’t fall far behind at 53 percent.

But of all of these had these people actually sat through the whole series of films? 54 percent said they’d sat through the whole of the ‘Back to the Future’ series, so it even scored the highest of what people are willing to sit through, but the Star Wars saga wasn’t quite as popular as only 36 percent said they’d sat through the ever-expanding films from the Star Wars universe.

However, it seems rather than remaking a series, a lot of people want to see a series added to – 71 percent said they’d like to see a new installment to the mentioned film franchises because they’d really liked the originals.

Jill Pantozzi, deputy editor of io9 said: “Many of the reboots, remakes, and revivals don’t seem to catch the magic of the original but can also have the effect of garnering a whole new audience who weren’t fans of the original.”
