An Astronaut’s Perspective Of ‘Home’

Peggy Whitson is one of the greatest and most accomplished astronauts of all time after spending 665 days in space. She is now sharing her perspective of “home” (what we refer to as Earth) in National Geographic’s ‘One Strange Rock.’ She is excited to share the show and believes it is presented beautifully.

Whitson is am Iowa native and grew up on a farm in Ringgold County. When she was nine years old, her parents let her stay up past her normal bedtime and watch the first people walk on the moon. Even though she was a young child, she still understood the tremendous significance of the event.

As she moved state to state, country to country, her perspective of home changed. She no longer consider home Iowa or the United states. Rather, she considers her home to be planet Earth.
