Grande To Receive Award For Billboard’s Woman Of The Year
Singer Ariana Grande has been named Billboard’s Woman of the Year – joining former winners like Madonna, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez in the long list of females to have held the title.
Grande, 25, will be presented with the award at the 13th annual Women in Music dinner and awards gala on December 6.
Ross Scarano, Billboard’s VP of Content said: “Ariana Grande is a star on her own terms, never bending to any particular musical trend or path in the industry. Certain in her convictions, she consistently stands up for herself and her decisions in a world that often isn’t hospitable to that sort of strength in young women. She’s got guts, she’s making some of the best music of her career, and she’s absolutely deserving of Woman of the Year.”
Grande has since also tweeted to thank Billboard for the honor.
Throughout the course of her career, the singer has nabbed the no. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart a total of three times. Her most recent chart-topping record was August’s Sweetener, and she has just announced her upcoming fifth studio album, ‘Thank U, Next’.
Outside of her music, over the past year and a half Grande has also had to overcome many personal battles.
Before Mac’s tragic untimely death, Ariana was also battling with post traumatic stress disorder after 22 people died – and more than 500 were injured – in a terrorist attack at one of her concerts in Manchester on 22 May 2017.
Nearly two weeks after the initial attack, Grande had then managed to assemble an all-star line-up for the ‘One Love Manchester’ gig on 4 June.
Very well deserved.
