The Future Of Technology

Wireless charging your iPhone X and iPhone 8 is only the beginning, as Apple just bought a small, but important wireless charging company today. ‎

It now counts PowerbyProxi among the seven small firms it has bought so far in 2017, one that Samsung had invested $4 million into. While the team plans to continue working from its original country of origin, New Zealand, it will join Apple “to create a wireless future.” Apple has said that it has including wireless charging in its latest iPhone X and iPhone 8 smartphones. Apple is already planning to expand beyond the Qi wireless charging standard its technology is based on with the AirPower, which can charge multiple devices at once.

AirPower is a wireless charging device that removes the clutter of wires and is due out in 2018. To use the charging device, all you have to do is place your phone on top of it. The purchase was a well-planned one, as the potential of future technologies is huge. Some possible developments for this technology are the potential of this device being able to provide autonomous charging of drones and unmanned cars.

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and some other mobile phone companies have had wireless charging capabilities for several years now, so Apple is on its’ way to catching up. The AirPower device is supposed to be able to simultaneously charge up to three devices, including new versions of the Apple Watch, iPhone and AirPod charging case.
