Ron Burgundy will soon publish a tell-all book. Ron Burgundy is the lead character from the film, Anchorman: the Legend of Ron Burgundy played by Will Ferrell. Crown Archetype, a division of Random House, will publish the book about the journalist. The title of the book is ‘Let Me off at the Top! My Classy Life and Other Musings’, and is scheduled for a release date of November 19.
Burgundy, who describes himself as San Diego’s classiest man, promises to reveal all new revelations from his life. The book will also describe which events led him to become the best newsman in the world. And what tell all book would be complete without romance? In the book, he will share stories of his dog Baxter, his romances, his childhood, and of working with his news team. As he talks about it, Burgundy becomes very emotional about the book, but admits he’s not sure if it could win any awards.
Ron Burgundy: The Legend Continues
The new film, Ron Burgundy: the Legend Continues will be released on December 20, only a few weeks after the publication of the book. Along with Ferrell, the film also stars Steve Carell, Harrison Ford, Christina Applegate, Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig, Kirsten Dunst, Liam Neeson, Sacha Baron Cohen, Nicole Kidman, and others returning from the first Anchorman movie. On November 14, the Newseum in Washington DC will display an exhibit to showcase Burgundy and others related to the film. The Newseum is a museum dedicated to news and other media related content.
Why Write a Book?
Now, you may ask why would a fictional character want to publish a book about that character’s life? In this case it fits into the story of his character and lends more credibility to his role as newsman. It’s likely that the book will also add to the comedy of the film. This is not the first book by a parody newsman. Stephen Colbert has published his own book in 2007 entitled, I Am America and So Can You. Stephen Colbert, the host of The Colbert Report, plays a conservative commentator modeled after Bill O’Reilly. But he’s so good at it that even many conservatives don’t know his comments are supposed to be a parody! Before one of our recent elections, some republicans were advised not to appear on his show because he would make them look ridiculous.
The cover of Colbert’s book brags about having won the prestigious Stephen T Colbert award for Literary Excellence. When the book was released, Colbert interviewed himself on the show and congratulated himself on the success of the book! In the real world, the book was also nominated for a Grammy as the best spoken word album of 2009. As you can see, there are many reasons why a fictional character might write a book. It’s clear that Burgundy’s film and book will both prove successful. Don’t lose hope Burgundy, if Colbert’s book can win awards, then maybe yours can too.
