Working Out Doesn’t Have To Be So Bad After All

Binge watching Netflix means binge eating. This leads to weight gain, but thankfully Donna Ruko and Nike master trainer Nikki Metzger have four moves to let you tone up while you tune in. The popular show Portlandia on Netflix shows a few scenes with this very example.

The first move that Nikki Metzger created is called Orange is the New Back. In order to reduce the damage of slouching, this move is a great one! Use something heavy like water bottles for your weights. Take your water bottle/weight and do a row while keeping your feet shoulder width apart and one hand braced on a table. Do this exercise for 15 to 20 reps each time.

The next exercise is Stranger Limbs. This move works your arms and legs. Simply grab a pillow from your couch and stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Squat down with your weight and your heels and then push back up to stand, pushing the pillow high up into the air above your head. The wonderful thing is that you can watch TV while doing this exercise! Try doing this exercise for one minute- it’s harder than it looks.

Exercise number 3 is called House of Cardiologists. You will need a coffee table to get your heart pumping. Start by stepping with one foot tapping the coffee table at a time, then see if you can pick up your pace. If the height of a coffee table is too challenging, start with a stack of magazines.

The last workout is called A Chested Development. This will help you to work your upper body. While regular push-ups don’t allow you to keep your eyes on the TV, this move is done on an incline. Simply place your hands on top of your coffee table and do your push up from there. This allows you to watch your favorite Netflix show while exercising at the same time. Do at least 10 reps. “Sweatflix” and chill on the fit list!
