Avenatti Indicted For Fruad

Celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti, known for defending adult-film star Stormy Daniels, has been hit with a 36-count grand jury indictment.

The indictment accuses Avenatti of hiding large settlements from plaintiffs so he could spend the money on himself. Avenatti allegedly hid a $4 million settlement from a paraplegic man, and used other clients’ settlement money to pay for a private jet.

Avenatti used secret bank accounts and fake corporations to hide the theft, according to the indictment.

Avenatti is well-known for representing porn star Stormy Daniels, who claimed she had an affair with President Donald Trump while he was married to First Lady Melania Trump. Avenatti sued Donald Trump on Stormy Daniels’ behalf, saying Trump had invalidated a non-disclosure agreement he made with Daniels.

Avenatti took to Twitter to defend himself on Thursday.

“For 20 years, I have represented Davids vs. Goliaths and relied on due process and our system of justice. Along the way, I have made many powerful enemies. I am entitled to a FULL presumption of innocence and am confident that justice will be done once ALL of the facts are known,” he Tweeted.

Avenatti is scheduled to appear in court in New York on April 25.
