“We’ve had enough times in the past when things weren’t so good”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood at the moment. His star-studded lineup includes the spectacularly successful Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Central Intelligence, the “Fast and Furious” franchise, and his most recent release, Skyscraper. A wrestling star that took his talents to the big screen, Johnson may seem like the confident man who always had it all, but that’s definitely not the case.

Speaking candidly, Johnson told interview host Jamie Foxx in an episode of “Off Script” that he had his fair share of hardships before his rise to fame. After his family was evicted from their home at fourteen they moved from Hawaii to Nashville and lived out out of a hotel. Later down the road, his dreams of playing for the NFL were crushed when he was cut from the Canadian Football League. Life was on such a downhill slope, he had to once call his dad in Tampa to pick him up from Miami.

On the ride home, Johnson looked into his wallet, pulled out a 5 dollar bill, a single, and some loose change. And now, on the come up as a star, he has his own production company aptly named “Seven Bucks.” If that’s not proof you can make something from nothing, I don’t know what is.

He may be called “The Rock,” but he certainly is more like a diamond in the rough who’s shined his way to stardom.
