Go Grease Lightning

Jamie Foxx is just as shocked as we all are to hear that Gabrielle Union fantasized about being one of the pink ladies from the hit movie ‘Grease’ growing up.

“Why was I expecting Spike Lee…was I stereotyping just now?” Foxx says after asking Union what movie changed her life.

Union has a pretty awesome reason as to why ‘Grease’ was the movie that changed her life, too. Basically, she was raised in a very strict household and she never saw why being a ‘good girl’ was any fun since all of the ‘bad girls’ seemed to be having the best time. And as it were, ‘Grease’ portrayed a group of high school girls called ‘the pink ladies’ as a group of bad girls who smoked, hung around with all the guys, and had tons of fun. This was iconic at the time, since women were still seen as obedient and quiet within pop culture and in real life.

“You know, I was raised kind of sheltered…and I was like, well nice girls don’t look like they’re having a lot of fun. Then the pink ladies…the girls who seemed to have all the fun, and all the dudes…” Union says. For more on the hilarious and compelling interview, watch more!
